Another relatively surprising start to a weekend in the Big Ten, but this time it’s the final weekend of the regular season. OSU have already locked down first, but the rest of the standings are still pretty tight after this Friday night’s re-positioning.
Notes on the first half of the games this weekend:
WIS 5 - MIC 4
The Badgers’ Sean Dhooghe (2G1A) with the hot-hand: scored two including an over-time winner in a comeback win. Quinn Hughes (1A). The Wolverines registered just 7 shots from the third through overtime.
OSU 5 - MSU 1
Depth was the difference as Eugene Fadyeyev started the scoring early in an OSU rout of MSU 5-1. KHL line were held scoreless and each posted -3.
ND 5 - PSU 4 (ot)
Mike O’Leary got the comeback rolling in the third period and finished it off in overtime. Evan Barratt (1A).
Non-conference
ASU 1 - MN 5
Gophers generally took it to the Sun Devils, a highly-rated non-conference opponent, holding them to just ten shots over the last two periods. The big offensive weapons for the Gophers were productive on the night: Gates, Pitlick, McLaughlin + Walker.
