Nearly 120 NCAA Prospects on NHL Central Scouting
The NCHC (30 players), Hockey East (28) and Big Ten (24) are well represented.
NHL Central Scouting released their list of players to watch with ratings projecting where they are likely to go during next summer’s NHL Draft in Montreal. Ninety-eight recruits (with nearly twenty uncommitted skaters playing in North America) were ranked, but only three are projected for the first round next summer: Wisconsin freshman Dylan Holloway and U18 NTDP defenseman Jake Sanderson, a North Dakota commit. Former Denver commit Ty Smilanic, also from the U18 NTDP, remains uncommitted.
From what I’ve seen, this looks about right, although there is a ton of season remaining. Some programs have not even begun playing yet. There are always some players that CSS misses on, but not many. A couple players I’d have included as C ratings from my first glance are over-age USHL forwards Gunnarwolfe Fontaine (NU/Chicago) and Jack Jensen (MN/Omaha).
